A Glorius Day

It has been a long road to get to this point. These eggs were laid on 3 Dec 2011 and this has been the first opportunity I have had to take pictures. She has laid 11 eggs I believe, I will have to get a better count as days go by. We should be expecting birth in about 50 days or so. I expect about 5-7 survivors, that seems to be the magic numbers for what I have read.

I plan on giving out all of my details when it is all said and done. I have an entire diary I started mid last year that I plan to post here. But not yet, not until we have the babies to complete the story. For now, enjoy the picture, I may not get any more, she is pretty greedy with the photo ops.

  1. Congratulations! What do you plan to do with the offspring?

  2. Good question NP. She was mated with an albino ball python so I am curious as to how the offspring will be colored. Most likely I will sell most of them.

  3. Very cool! I worked as a reptile keeper/handler and while breeding wasn't the main goal, we did end up with a big brood of Everglades Rat Snakes, which are moderately rare, certainly in the wild. They had a very good hatching and survival ratio and it was neat to see them finally hatch after being in the incubator.

  4. That is awesome!! When I began a journey many years ago, You are at the point of where I wanted to be, of course I have not continued and I don't have the honor of housing reptiles any longer.. :/ but I admire anyone who does...

Hooray for the babies, I hope that each and everyone lives and have abundant lives, (I know, may not be the case) but to get to this point, WOW!!!

Can't wait to read your journal of this!!!
